Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

On "friending": Anyone may add me to his or her friends list at any time, with or without asking. If I add you to my friends list, it doesn't necessarily mean that I'm stalking you. Don't rule it out, though.

I'm a tall pale geek, lover of literature and pulp alike. I read many webcomics, and am featured prominently in one. I maintain the c_and_a journal because Andy never cared enough to make an RSS feed. I invent things constantly, even building a few, and I'm learning how to make wood bows.

In early 2001, I joined a new Dungeons & Dragons campaign set in Pyrrdwyn, a mythical realm similar to medieval Wales. To name my character, I looked through a book of Welsh names, and chose "Deyo Llwyd rhys Penri". Penri is a fairly common name meaning "Son of Henri", and Deyo is rare (read: never used) as a given name. The name has followed me from game to game ever since.

My journal includes a tightly-filtered post dated March 3, 1970, with contact information and my physical description.
